The Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga has added Marcus Rafiee to a new role as senior director of Giving Strategies.
'His role focuses on deepening relationships with professional advisors to offer new philanthropic tools and opportunities for advisors to enhance their ability to serve their clients," officials said.
“The Community Foundation aims to provide additional support and resources to the client-advisor relationship,” Mr. Rafiee said. “A good professional advisor is like a quarterback that rallies the best team — with expertise in various areas — to bring a full array of services to the client.
When it comes to the discussion of philanthropy with a client, the Community Foundation is ideally suited to marry the client’s charitable interests, passions and financial goals, and can bring robust experience to that relationship.”
When advisors partner with the Community Foundation, Mr. Rafiee helps them leverage the foundation’s philanthropic tools and expertise, so their clients can create effective giving strategies and build a legacy of impact in the community, officials said.
A Chattanooga native, Mr. Rafiee served as CFO for McCallie School before joining the foundation. For more than 25 years, he worked as a consulting actuary for Towers Perrin (now Willis Towers Watson) and Deloitte Consulting, advising Fortune 500 clients on employee benefit and human capital matters. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northwestern University in mathematics and physics.
Mr. Rafiee has an extensive nonprofit background — both locally and beyond. He has served on the boards of McCallie School and the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, and he sits on the board of Bright School.
“The Community Foundation continues to be an eminent strategic partner in generosity for the Chattanooga community,” Mr. Rafiee said. “Working alongside trusted professional advisors, we help bring philanthropy to the front lines, engaging and serving those who deeply care about Chattanooga’s dynamic future.”
